Hyderabad to host World IT Congress in 2018
Hyderabad, capital of Telangana State is going to host prestigious World Information Technology Congress (WITC) in 2018.
Hyderabad- a global IT hub was preferred by organisers of this congress over the New Delhi and Bengaluru because it is equipped with necessary IT infrastructure.
Earlier, India and Hyderabad had emerged winner in the race to host the event after facing tough competition from European countries.
This event will coincide with the ambitious target of Telangana government to increase the software exports from Hyderabad to Rs1 lakh crore per annum in next three years.
Facts about World Information Technology Congress (WITC)
It is a biennial event and considered as the biggest event of its kind.
It aims provide single platform to IT experts, policy and decision makers and Government officials from all over the world together to discuss various challenges and possible solutions to them.
It will be only second time that the event will be taking place in Asia, last time it was hosted by Kualalumpur, Malaysia in 2008.
The latest edition of WITC 2014 was held in Mexico and had focused on the theme of ‘Digital World’. Next event of 2016 will be held in Brazil.
