Maniram Patel wins Gold medal in men’s 20 kilometre walk in 19th Federation Cup senior athletics championship

Maniram Patel from Gujarat has won Gold medal in the men’s 20 kilometre walk in the 19th Federation Cup senior athletics championship held at Mangaluru, Karnataka.

In the finals Patel clocked a time of 1 hour, 29 minutes, 51 seconds to secure first position and win the gold medal. While, Kuldeep of Tata Motors came at second position to win the Silver medal and Ankit Kumar of Indian Navy stood at the third position to win Bronze medal.

Apart from this event, World University Games Silver medallist and defending champion in shot put Inderjeet Singh of Haryana became the first athlete in the athletics meet to qualify for the Rio Olympics. He qualified with a stupendous toss of 20.65 metres in shot put in this athletics meet.
