MHA bans foreign tourists from working as journalists

The Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA) announced a ban on journalistic activities by foreign tourists in India.
As noticed by the Ministry, foreigners entering on tourist visa are involved in coverage of events/journalistic activities. It stated that Tourist Visa is not the apt visa for such activities by the foreigners.
As per MHA, Tourist Visa is given to foreigners who do not have residence or occupation in India and whose only purpose of visiting India is recreation, sightseeing, casual visit to meet friends and relatives etc. No other activity is allowed on Tourist Visa.
