Strategic IAF airbase at Thanjavur ready to serve nation

Indian Air Force (IAF) will dedicate a newly upgraded Air Force Station in Thanjavur Tamil Nadu to the nation on May 27, 2013. Earlier, the airbase was a vintage airfield of World War I which has been added with modern infrastructure and facilities to add to the capabilities of Southern Air Command.

The Indian Air Force will base a squadron of Sukhoi Su-30 super-manoeuvrable fighter aircraft, making it the first fighter squadron in Tamil Nadu.
