Andhra Pradesh CM Chandrababu Naidu selected for USIBC Award

The US-India Business Council (USIBC) has selected Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister, Chandrababu Naidu for the ‘Transformative Chief Minister Award’ for his role in advancing the US-India partnership at the state level. The award will be presented to him at the USIBC West Coast Summit in the Silicon Valley on May 8th.

The USIBC West Coast Summit will see the participation of Indian government officials and 150 industry leaders from sectors such as information technology, banking, food processing, healthcare, clean energy, digital payments, and manufacturing to explore the impacts of manufacturing in India, digitisation, move towards adoption of a cashless society and the future of the US-India trade relations.  The companies such as Amazon, Paypal, Deloitte, Facebook, Mastercard, Dell, TransAsia, Varian Medical and Visa will attend the summit.

In addition, the Secretary, Ministry of Electronics and IT Aruna Sundararajan will also be honoured with the ‘Transformative Leadership Award’ for excellence in public service and for her role in advancing US-India cooperation and Digital India. Amitabh Kant, CEO of Niti Aayog was the last year’s recipient of this award.

USIBC

USIBC was established in 1975 as a business advocacy organization for encouraging the private sectors in the US and India to enhance investments. It acts a direct link between business and government leaders to enhance the trade and investment ties between the two nations. USIBC works in partnership with major trade associations of India like The Confederation of Indian Industry (CII), The Federation of Indian Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FICCI), National Association of Software and Services Companies (NASSCOM) among others. President and CEO of MasterCard Ajay Banga is the current chairman of USIBC.

Bhubaneswar: First Indian city to win Pierre L’enfant Awards-2017

Bhubaneswar has become the first Indian city to win Pierre L’enfant International Planning excellence award-2017 instituted by the American Planning Association (APA). Bhubaneswar has been chosen for its good and advanced town planning and engaging its residents in the planning process.

The APA Awards jury has selected Five Excellence Award recipients in total who will be honoured at the Awards Luncheon at APA’s National Planning Conference in New York on May 8.

 

Pierre L’enfant Awards

Pierre L’enfant was a French-born American architect and civil engineer. He is credited for designing the layout of the streets of Washington, D.C. The American Planning Association (APA) has named an award in his honour to recognize excellence in international planning.

APA

APA was created in 1978. It is an independent, not for profit educational organization representing the field of urban planning in the United States. It serves as a forum for the exchange of ideas related to urban planning. The APA through awards, honours outstanding community plans, planning programs and initiatives, public education efforts, and individuals for their leadership on planning issues. APA boasts of 35,000 members from over 100 countries.

Srishti Kaur wins Miss Teen Universe pageant

Srishti Kaur of India has been crowned Miss Teen Universe 2017 at Managua, the capital of Nicaragua. She won after beating 25 contestants from across the world. In addition, she also bagged an award for the best national costume. Her costume featured a peacock, the Indian national bird. She succeeds Nieveles Gonzalez of Puerto Rico as the Miss Teen Universe. Kaur had also won the title of Miss Teen Tiara International at the beginning of this year beating 29 contestants.

Kaur, a resident of Noida is currently pursuing her education at London School of Fashion.

Miss Teen Universe pageant

Miss Teen Universe pageant was started six years ago. The pageant is organized by the Miss Universe organisation for teens aged 15 to 19.  The event takes place once in a year. The winner is decided based on the physical beauty, incorporating qualities such as personality, talent, and intelligence.
