Air Marshal D Choudhury is the new Commandant of National Defence College

Air Marshal D Choudhury took charge as new Commandant of National Defence College. He took over the charge from Vice Admiral Srikant. Prior to this appointment Air Marshal Choudhury was senior Air Staff Officer at Headquarters of Western Air Command in New Delhi.

About Air Marshal D Choudhury

He is an alumnus of National Defence Academy (NDA). He was commissioned into fighter stream of India Air Force (IAF) on 22 December 1983. He is an alumnus of Royal College of Defence studies, UK, Post Graduate in Strategy and International Security from King’s College London as well as holds an M.Phil degree in Defence and Strategic Studies.

He has a vast operational flying experience on all variants of MiG-21, MiG-27, MiG-29 and Su-30 aircrafts. He is an Instrument Rating Examiner and Fighter Combat Leader. He has commanded a frontline fighter Squadron and two frontline fighter bases apart from heading prestigious Tactics and Air Combat Development Establishment and Composite Battle Response and Analysis (COBRA) Group.

About National Defence College (NDC)

Established on 27 April 1960, NDC is a premier Institution under Union Ministry of Defence. It is the highest seat of Strategic Education of Nation. It’s annual Course of 47 weeks duration on ‘National Security and Strategic Studies’ is therefore in great demand both nationally and internationally. It presently has an Alumni strength of about 4000 including Four Heads of State, numerous Chiefs of Armed Forces in India and abroad, substantial number of high ranking military and civilian officers, statesmen and public servants.
