Ajeya Warrior: India-UK to hold joint military exercise

India-UK hold joint exercise called Ajeya Warrior on February 13, 2020. The exercise is being held from 2005.

Highlights

Around 120 soldiers are to participate in the exercise. This is the fifth edition of the exercise. The countries will hold the exercise in Salisbury Plains.

Salisbury Plains

The Salisbury plains are located in Chalk Plateau. The plains are famous for archaeological monument Stonehenge.

Stonehenge

Stonehenge in England was built in Neolithic and Bronze age between 3000 BC and 2000 BC. It is one of the World Heritage Site of UNESCO. Archaeologists believe that Stonehenge would have been a burial ground. Deposits of human bones were found in the site that were dated to 3000 BC.

Other Exercises

India and UK hold joint naval exercises called Konkan exercise from 2004. The countries also hold Indra Dhanush Exercise since 2006. Indra Dhanush is a joint air-to-air exercise.

India-UK Defence Ties

The Defence ties between India and UK is limited. India has acquired 123 Hawk Advanced Jet Trainer aircraft from UK.
