Prakash Javadekar releases patriotic song Watan for Independence Day

Union Information and Broadcasting Minister Prakash Javadekar released a patriotic song titled Watan in New Delhi to mark the occasion of Independence Day 2019. The special song has been created by public service broadcaster Doordarshan (DD) and Prasar Bharati for Independence Day.

About Watan Song

It pays tribute to New India, to the bravery and valour of armed forces and to martyrs of country. The song will add colour and fervour to celebrations of 73rd Independence Day of India.

The song highlights several path-breaking initiatives of government such as vision and determination behind recent successful launch of Chandrayaan 2, India’s second lunar exploration mission.

It has been sung by famous Bollywood singer Javed Ali and has been penned by lyricist Alok Shrivastav and music composed by Dushyant.

Song is being broadcasted by all  stations and kendras of Akashvani and Doordarshan.

Virasat-e-Khalsa set to enter Asia Book of Records

Virasat-e-Khalsa museum located in Anandpur Sahib town in Punjab is set to find a place in Asia Book of Records for becoming most visited museum in Asian sub-continent on a single day. Museum witnessed a record footfall of 20,569 visitors on a single day on 20 March 2019.

Key Highlights

Asia Book of Records confirmed that record of ‘maximum footfall in a museum in a day’ set by museum will feature in next edition of Asia Book of Records.

This would be 3rd entry for museum in record books. Prior to this, Virasat-e-Khalsa made it to Limca Book of Records in February 2019 edition and India Book of Records and both had listed ‘Virasat-e-Khalsa’ as country’s top-ranked museum in terms of number of visitors.

Museum has been conferred an award by Punjab Energy Development Agency in a State-level energy conservation competition, for cutting down electricity consumption.

About Virasat-e-Khalsa

It was built to commemorate the rich history and culture of Punjab and Sikhism. It inaugurated in November 2011. In a short span of eight years, more than 10 million visitors have visited museum so far.

It celebrates 500 years of Sikh history and 300th anniversary of birth of Khalsa, based on scriptures written by Guru Gobind Singh, 10th and last human Sikh guru.
