CBSE Facebook Partnership for Introduction of Augmented Reality and to launch Curriculum on Digital Safety and Online Well Being
Union Human Resource Development (HRD) Minister Ramesh Pokhriyal has announced on 5th July 2020 that the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) has entered into a partnership with United States-based social media company Facebook, Inc.
About the CBSE Facebook Partnership
The partnership between CBSE and Facebook has two categories. Registration under both the categories have started from 6th July 2020 and will be available for registration until 20th July 2020.
- First, this category will be for the introduction of Augmented Reality in the CBSE curriculum in India. This first category will be of two phases. The programme under this category will be launched on 10th August 2020. In the first phase, a three weeks training will be conducted by Facebook for 10,000 CBSE teachers in India. These teachers further will teach 30,000 students in the second phase. The training will focus on providing the school children Augmented Reality experience for which the fundamentals of Augmented Reality will be covered along with ways for proper utilization of various software of Facebook, Spark Augmented Reality Studio will also be covered in the training.
- Under the second category of the partnership, a new curriculum has been introduced by CBSE. The name of the curriculum is ‘Facebook for Education’. The curriculum is available on the official website of CBSE. In this, aspects related to online well being (such as building Health Digital Habits- Instagram’s Guide) and digital safety (such as privacy, safety, report threats, identify misinformation, etc) will be covered. The programme under this category will be launched on 6th August 2020.
