China replaces Britain to become world’s 5th largest arms exporters
As per a report by the Stockholm International Peace Research Institute (SIPRI), China has replaced Britain to become the world’s fifth-largest arms exporter, its highest ranking since the Cold War, with Pakistan the main importer of its supplies.
As per the report, World’s top 6 arms exporters are:
- China’s volume of weapons exports between 2008 and 2012 rose 162% compared with the previous five-year period, with its share of the global arms trade rising from 2% to 5%.
- The United States and Russia accounted for 30% and 26% of weapons exports respectively.
