Delhi enters list of top 10 most popular destinations in the world
The National Capital has been witnessing soaring popularity and wellness tourism across the world. According to Euro Monitor International, Delhi currently ranks 11th in the list of world’s tops 100 destinations and is to gain 8th rank in 2019. The ranking was released by the organization on December 3, 2019 under the title “Top 100 city destination ranking”
The report says that various cultural traditions and enriching history makes Delhi the most favorite places among international tourists. Also, air connectivity and world class airports have helped the city to increase its position in the ranking. India is also gaining attention for its Ayurvedic and Yoga practices.
The report also says that international tourists visiting Delhi has increased by 25% in 2019 as compared to 2018. In 2019, there were around 15.2 million tourists visiting the capital. This year with seven cities in the top 100 destinations, India has emerged as the strongest tourist destination.
Hong Kong has remained the topmost for three consecutive years (2017, 2018 and 2019). Followed by Hong Kong, Bangkok, London, Macau, Singapore were at the second, third, fourth and fifth ranks respectively. Around 43 cities from Asia were among the top 100 City Destination ranking.
The popularity has increased in Asia as compared to other parts of the world. This is mainly due to developing infrastructure, digitization of travel facilities, electronic Visa applications, government focus on tourism
