Delhi Lt Governor approves appointment of Swati Maliwal as Chairperson of DCW

Delhi Lt Governor Najeeb Jung approved appointment of Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) leader Swati Maliwal as Chairperson of Delhi Commission for Women (DCW).

It was approved after he had rejected appointment of Maliwal earlier over the issue of proper clearance of file in this regard.

Swati Maliwal was appointed to this post by Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal after constituting new DCW under Section 4 of the Delhi Commission for Women (DCW) Act, 1994. Other members appointed include Farheen Malik, Promila Gupta and Sarika Chaudhary. They will have tenure of three years.

Prior to this appointment, Swati Maliwal was working as an advisor to Delhi CM Arvind Kejriwal on issues related to public grievances which are handled under Janta Samwad initiative of Delhi Government.
