Double Layered Khadi masks developed by KVIC

The Khadi and Village Industries Commission has developed double layered Khadi masks. The orders for these masks have been procured in large quantities.

Highlights

The demand for double layered khadi masks is increasing. Recently, an order of 7.5 lakh of these masks were placed with KVIC by Jammu and Kashmir Government alone. These masks have good demand in the market as they absorb 70% of moisture content inside. This provides an easy passage for air. Also, the fabric used to make these masks are hand spun and breathable. Hence these masks are washable, biodegradable and reusable as well.

Way Forward

KVIC is to provide 12 lakh masks after several institutions have placed orders. They also provide livelihood opportunities to Khadi artisans. The masks are made only from cotton and wool that are procured from Uttar Pradesh and Haryana.
