IRCTC Next Generation e-Ticketing System: Ministry of Railways launches new user interface

Union Ministry of Railways has launched new user interface of its Next Generation e-Ticketing (NGeT) System on Indian Railway’s Online Travel Portal (www.irctc.co.in). Through NGeT system, Indian Railways new online ticket booking system provides user-friendly, easy and fast way of booking rail tickets by automating journey planning and purchase of tickets. It was launched as part of Union Government’s Digital India’ initiative to harness power of technology and in making lives easier for citizens of India.

Features of New User Interface of NGeT System


Using it user can now enquire and search trains and also check availability of seats without logging in the system, thereby saving time of the users. They also can now change font size of website for comfortable viewing.

It will provide enhanced class-wise, train-wise, destination-wise, departure and arrival time wise and quota-wise filters for facilitating customer while planning their journeys. It also arranges information about train including train no, train name, originating and destination station and distances between them, arrival and departure time and journey time on single screen information.

It also has new features for payments such as My Transactions which will help user to view their booked tickets based on Booking Date, Journey Date, Upcoming Journey and completed journey. It also has waitlist prediction which will allow user to get probability of wait-listed or RAC tickets getting confirmed.

It also has journey planner page, history of all journeys, bookings, cancellation. User can find out availability for entire Advance Reservation Period (of 120 days), except for few trains in improvised page. User can perform multiple activities through booked history with improved interface for cancellation of tickets, printing of tickets, request for additional SMS, selecting alternative train and change of boarding point if required.

      The new irctc web site is not opening.it has created lot of problem concerning booking getting history of booked ticket etc.Previous system was excellent. I dont know why the changes were made when it was working fine.Railway should take cognisanceof problem faced by public and take necessary steps to correct.

    Pl include an option to book unreserved tickets for onward travels in local trains after long-distance travel in express trains( example. If I were to go actually to Ambasamudram after completing the journey in Nellai express, I have to carry all my luggage to booking counter for purchasing ticket for local travel, as I cannot use UTS due to constraints imposed). this saves a lot of time and energy to buy tickets for local travels in local trains.

    New web site not fully tested – infuriating, exasperating:

    1.> correct captcha, repeated message – incorrect captcha

    2.> Unable to login to new irctc site with my login details.

    3.> Advertisement in Booking tickets – why is there advertisement while booking tickets.

    I had already registered,but for new version the old Kia not accepting. So I created a new one in which phone number is not accepting. So I gave a new phone number .     IRCTC is now not user friendly. The site is putting people into confusion. This is to help some other vested interests and not for supporting the common man. It is high time this is rectified. Otherwise the common man will react through the ballot. Common man is being forced to approach agents for help in booking tickets thereby incurring extra expenditure on commission to corporate. Urgent steps should be taken to correct the mistakes.

    Even after trying for 2 hours I could not book a E ticket .Existng site be removed and replaced by old one immediately It is utterly confusing and time consuming. Captcha with Ads keep popping up. So are the Ads,It takes more time for booking a single tkt. Gentleman who prepared the ssite should sit with a stopwatch and see how long it takes to book a tkt. as compared to old site.

    Very painting to point out that I am a registered user of irctc since many years but now a days I am not able to use it right after 01.07.2018. The changes done by Railway are ridiculous. Instead of improving it they have ruined entire system. SUITABLE action against all such Railway authorities needs to by taken by Shri Piyush Goyal, Rail Minister and the website shouldimmediately be rectifiedSUITABLY to make it user friendly.

    I am a regular user of the IRCTC site since many years but I am not allowed to use the same due to up-gradation of the site. When I tried to register again it was denied with a reason that my mobile number and email address is already registered. what is the way out. I don’t know who’s foolish idea is this. I REQUEST RAILWAY MINISTER TO LOOK INTO IT AND PUT SOME SENSIBLE IT FELLOWS TO REPAIR THE PRESENT SYSTEM TO ENABLE THE OLD USERS TO USE THE SITE OTHERWISE IT WILL BE A GREAT LOSS TO INDIAN RAILWAY.

    The Newly designed webpage of IRCTC is atrocious, horrible, and full of problems. They have copied the airlines portal badly and made it not worse BUT WORST EVER ONE CAN DESIGN. You simply cannot login. The customer care at Bhopal call centre just cannot understand the problems. They are giving mechanical robot like replies without trying to help the customer. TRAGEDY is that with so much NEGATIVE FEEDBACK , IRCTC is totally insensitive to the problems expressed by so many customers in just one month. Just TERRIBLE.
    WAKE UP IRCTC, IF AT ALL ANY ONE FROM IRCTC IS ABLE TO READ ALL THE ABOVE COMMENTS.

    All useless process. The earlier system was much better. Now, in spite of repeated attempts I am not able to open the site. A lot of time is being wasted whenever I try to open the site. Yesterday I tried to file a TDR but the site is not responding. Lastly I left with any alternate but to donate the money to the Indian Railways.

    The new ticketing system is giving so much of problems. Many a times it is either not getting logging in when I try to login. Further, many a times it takes so much time or many clicks to enter into the site. So much of texting and details and trains are in random order and not as per timings. I feel, the previous system/website was much better functioning, even while booking Tatkal Tickets. This new website is giving certain problems. Even as of now, since last 3 days, I am unable to log in.Though I tried to access by way of turning off firewall etc. options, as suggested by IT or Computer savvy people on internet.

    Even after lots of complain against New IRCTC website access & smooth working, No action taken place. Customers are frustrated with new website as it is not user friendly. Even not a correct website details available in google search. All URL/ given addresses are redirecting to some other page. Please Provide a user guide to customers via registered mail, so that they can use this website smoothly using laptop or mobile app.
