Vibrant Gujarat Global Summit 2019

Prime Minister Narendra Modi inaugurated the 9th edition of Vibrant Gujarat Summit. On the occasion, the Prime Minister also set the target for breaching into top 50 rankings of the ease of doing business.

The three-day Vibrant Gujarat Summit will witness the participation of the heads of five countries Uzbekistan, Rwanda, Denmark, Czech Republic and Malta – and over 30,000 national and international delegates. A round-table interaction with the heads of global funds, ‘Africa Day’ and an MSME convention would also be held during the convention.

Vibrant Gujarat Summit

Vibrant Gujarat Summit conceptualized in 2003 by then Chief Minister of Gujarat Narendra Modi, to establish Gujarat as a preferred investment destination within India.

The objectives of the Vibrant Gujarat Summit are:

  • Strengthen the foundation for Gujarat to become economically and socially the most developed state in India by 2030, at par with the best in the developed world.
  • Leveraging Gujarat’s manufacturing leadership in the country and it’s economic strength, to connect the global investor with India and the state.
  • Attract the brightest minds from across the world to ideate, showcase innovation and best practices, and discuss their application to the state and the nation.
  • Empower India to compete with the best global economies.
  • Provide a platform for global business networking.

Over the time the Summit has evolved into a platform for brainstorming on agendas of global socio-economic development, in addition to being a facilitator for knowledge sharing and forging effective partnerships.

Diffo Bridge of Arunachal Pradesh Inaugurated

The Union Defence Minister Nirmala Sitharaman inaugurated the 426.60 m long Pre Stressed Concrete Box Girder type Diffo bridge over Diffo river on Roing – Koronu- Paya road in Arunachal Pradesh.

The Diffo bridge will provide for uninterrupted access between Dibang Valley and Lohit valley region of Eastern Arunachal Pradesh together with providing an all-weather road to our troops deployed on the China border.

The construction of the Bridge was undertaken by the Project Udayak of the Border Roads Organisation.

Project Udayank

Project Udayank of the Border Roads Organisation was raised on June 1990 at Doomdooma Assam. The name of the project Udayank is synonymous to the land of rising sun which fits appropriately to the area it operates. It consists of two border road taskforces undertaking construction activities in the northeastern region.

Border Roads Organisation

Border Roads Organisation (BRO) develops and maintains road networks in India’s border areas and friendly neighbouring countries. Border Road Organisation has also undertaken the infrastructure development activities in neighbouring countries such as Afghanistan, Bhutan, Myanmar, and Sri Lanka.

During the peacetime, the BRO is vested with responsibilities to

  • Develop & Maintain the Operational Road Infrastructure of General Staff (GS) in the Border Areas.
  • Contribute to the Socio-Economic Development of the Border States.

During Wartime, BRO is responsible for

  • Developing & Maintaining Roads to Keep Line of Control through in Original Sectors and Re-deployed Sectors.
  • Executing Additional Tasks as laid down by the Govt Contributing to the War Effort.

The Border Roads Organisation works under the Ministry of Defence.
