Rs 1,768 crore spent by Government in the last 3 years to promote its brand
As per the information and broadcasting (I&B) ministry, the government has spent over Rs 1,768 crore in the last 3 years to publicize itself. The amount has been spent by the Directorate of Audio-Visual Publicity (DAVP) in advertisements and publicity campaigns in newspapers, magazines and on TV. The maximum spending has been on newspaper advertisements with Rs 375.31 crore during 2011-2012, while the spending has been about Rs 99 crore this year.
