US-India Strategic Partnership Forum (USISPF) has selected MasterCard CEO and President Ajay Banga and Wipro Chairman Azim Premji for its 2019 Global Excellence Awards.
The two business leaders will receive 2019 Global Excellence Awards at USISPF’s 2nd Annual Leadership Summit scheduled to be held on 11 July in Washington, US.
Jared Kushner, senior adviser to US President will be presenting the awards during summit.
The prestigious Global Excellence Awards are being conferred for significant contribution made by Azim Premji and Ajay Banga towards strengthening economic ties between US and India.
Azim Premji: His work to transform Indian Information and Technology industry into a global powerhouse is globally well-known. The award recognises his philanthropic efforts, which reflect his mission to change lives through education.
Ajay Banga: He had been a champion of US-Indian partnership, advancing bilateral ties across multiple transitions. His efforts along with Mastercard’s commitment to Digital India and Make in India inititive, the US firms continue to regard India with a positive outlook.
About US-India Strategic Partnership Forum
It is a non-profit organization that was established in 2017 by its Executive Board with primary objective of strengthening U.S.-India bilateral and strategic partnership.
Objective: It is committed towards creating most powerful strategic partnership between U.S. and India with the purpose of enabling business and governments to collaborate and create meaningful opportunities that can positively change lives of citizens.
USISPF 2nd Annual Leadership Summit will be held in Washington, D.C. on 11 July 2019. The leadership summit will highlight areas of bilateral cooperation like trade and investment, manufacturing, strategic energy ties and innovation partnership.

Motivational Journey of Azim Premji
Azim Premji was born on July 24, 1945, to an affluent Gujarati entrepreneur. He inherited Wipro, a vegetable oil company at the age of 21 after the sudden demise of his father.
Azim Premji was pursuing Electrical Engineering from Stanford University, USA when he took over the reins of his family business in 1966. He was written off to carry the herculean task and was publicly advised to sell his shareholding and give it into more mature hands. This further strengthened his resolve to make Wipro a success story.
Under his able leadership, Wipro diversified from hydrogenated cooking fats to bakery fats, ethnic ingredient based toiletries, hair care soaps, baby toiletries, lighting products and hydraulic cylinders.
The expulsion of IBM from the Indian market led to a vacuum and Wipro ventured into software services taking advantage. The rest is history. He led Wipro from a hydrogenated cooking fats company to a pioneer in providing integrated business, technology and process solutions on a global delivery platform. Wipro Technologies is the largest independent R&D service provider in the world and is ranked among the top 100 technology companies globally.
In 2005 Premji was conferred the Padma Bhushan and Padma Vibhushan in 2011. Premji has also pledged to donate USD 2 billion for improving school education in India, the first of its kind by any Indian billionaire.
