The University Grants Commission (UGC) has set up an advisory committee, headed by S. K. Joshi, member UGC and former Director-General of CSIR, to monitor the progress of the implementation of the new Four-Year Undergraduate Programme (FYUP) being introduced by Delhi University. The panel will also offer corrective advice on the issue of curriculum.
There is a widespread confusion and protest over the new four-year format of undergraduate degree courses being implemented by the DU.
Indian-American Arvind Mahankali (13) won the Scripps National Spelling Bee contest, as children from the community created history by dominating the prestigious contest for the 6th year in a row, holding top three positions this year.
This is the sixth consecutive year that an Indian-American has won the contest, which was watched live by millions of people in the United States.
The Scripps National Spelling Bee (commonly called the National Spelling Bee) is an annual spelling bee held in the United States. Anyone who is in eighth grade or below and is under 16 years old is eligible for this contest. Participants from countries other than the U.S. must be regional spelling-bee winners as well. The winner of the Scripps National Spelling Bee receives a $30,000 cash prize
