“iGOT”-An Online Training Portal launched on DIKSHA platform of MHRD

The Government of India has launched an online training module called “iGOT” portal. iGOT is Integrated Government Online Training portal. It has been launched on DIKSHA platform of Ministry of Human Resources Development.

Highlights

The main aim of the portal is to increase the capacity building of the frontline workers. The workers are engaged in COVID-19 relief works. India is currently in need of larger force to handle exponential increase in the positive cases of COVID-19.

About the Portal

The portal will look after the training needs of the frontline workers. These workers include nurses, paramedics, hygiene worker, technicians, doctors, midwives. The training is to be provided on clinical management, basics of COVID-19, ICU care and management, quarantine and isolation, etc.

DIKSHA Platform

The DIKSHA platform was launched by the Ministry of Human Resources and Development in September 2017. The aim of the portal was to provide a digital platform for the teachers to make their lifestyle digital. The platform helps teachers to learn and train themselves. It will also record their accomplishments in educational institutes.

Three types of Health Care Facilities to be set up to manage COVID-19 cases

On April 8, 2020, the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare announced that the hospitals and health facilities have been classified to deal with COVID-19 cases in the country. There are three types of COVID-19 health centres to be set up in the country.

Highlights

According to the ministry, all the centres will have separate, dedicated facilities for confirmed cases. The ministry has also announced that if one person does not follow strict guidelines of social distancing, he or she shall infect 406 people in just 30 days. The data was provided by ICMR after careful study of the spread and pattern of infection of the disease in the country.

The three types of centres are as follows

  • COVID Care Centre
  • Dedicated COVID Health Centre
  • Dedicated COVID Hospital

COVID Care Centre

These centres will attend cases that are clinically assigned as very mild or mild. They are makeshift facilities. They can be hostels, stadiums, schools, lodges, etc.

Dedicated COVID Health Centre

These centres will attend cases that are assigned as “moderate”. These centres will compulsorily have oxygen support in all beds. Also, these centres will have dedicated ambulance support equipped with sufficient oxygen support.

Dedicated COVID Hospital

These hospitals attend cases that have been clinically assigned as “severe”. They can be either a complete hospital or a part of the hospital. The private hospitals shall also be designated to this category. These hospitals will hold complete set up of ICUs, beds with oxygen support and ventilar units

Current Scenario

So far 402 persons have recovered from the disease and 149 have lost their lives due to the disease. The ICMR has so far tested 1,14,015 samples. Around 136 government laboratories and 63 private laboratories have been approved by the ICMR to make COVID-19 testing.
