Kladno Memorial Athletics Meet: Mohammad Anas, Hima Das wins gold

India’s Mohammad Anas won gold in men’s 400m with an effort of 45.21 seconds and Hima Das won gold in women’s 200m event at Kladno Memorial Athletics Meet at Kladno in Czech Republic. This is Hima Das 3rd international triumph in 11 days.

Key Highlight

Mohammad Anas: He bettered his own national record in men’s 400m race. His earlier national record time stood at 45.24 seconds which he recorded in 2018. The 24-year-old Anas finished nearly one second ahead of silver winner Omelko Rafal (46.19) of Poland.

Hima Das: clocked a much improved time of 23.43 seconds to win gold while she has personal best of 23.10 sec in 200m. This was her 3rd international gold within 2 weeks. She won other two gold in Poznan Athletics Grand Prix in Poland and at the Kutno Athletics Meet in Poland.

V K Vismaya clocked her personal best of 52.54 seconds to win the ‘A’ race in women’s 400m.

Other Winners:

Indian trio Vipin Kasana (82.51m), Abhishek Singh (77.32m) and Davinder Singh Kang (76.58m) took top 3 spots in men’s javelin final respectively.

In Men’s Shot Put event, national record holder Tejinder Pal Singh Toor managed best throw of 20.36m to win bronze. He holds national record of 20.75m.

Saritaben stood 3rd with 53.37.

In XXII International Memorial Competition in Bishkek, Kyrgyzstan-

Indians bagged 6 gold, 3 silver and 1 bronze, with national record holder M Sreeshankar winning long jump event with a creditable 7.97m.

Kutno Athletics Meet: Hima Das wins gold in Women’s 200m

Indian sprinter Hima Das clinched gold in Women’s 200m race with a top finish at Kutno Athletics Meet held in Poland. India’s VK Vismaya bagged silver in 24.06 seconds.

Hima Das, clocked 23.97 seconds to clinch gold at Kutno Athletics Meet.

This was Hima’s 2nd competitive 200m race of the year and also her 2nd international gold.

In her 1st competitive 200m race of 2019, the Assam runner Das who has a personal best of 23.10s had clocked 23.65 seconds on her way to gold in Poznan Athletics Grand Prix, which was also held in Poland.

Hima is national record holder in 400m. She is reigning world junior champion.

Men’s 200m Race: National record holder Muhammed Anas also won gold.

Men’s 400m Hurdles: Jabir MP won gold in 50.21s. Jithin Paul finished 3rd in 52.26 secs.

Women’s 400m Race: Indians won women’s 400m race through- P Saritaben (52.77 secs), Sonia Baishya (53.73 secs) and R Vithya (53.73 secs).
