ICMR Report says Delhi and Ahmedabad tops in added-fat consumption

The Indian Council of Medical Research conducted study on the food habits of the citizens of the country. The study said that vegetarians consume more fat than that of non-vegetarians. Also, among the metropolitan cities of India, Delhi and Ahmedabad topped the list in average consumption of added fat.


The survey was conducted by ICMR based on the data provided by the National Nutrition Monitoring Bureau. According to the study, people whose diet relied on deep fried food consumed more added fat than those who ate boiled food.

The report also said that highest intake of added fat was in the age group of 36 to 59 years and the least intake was in children under the age of five.

NITI Aayog organizes North East Sustainable Development Goal Conclave 2020 in Assam

NITI Aayog is to organize North East Sustainable Development Goal Conclave 2020 in Assam between February 24, 2020 and February 26, 2020. The Conclave is to be held in the state capital Guwahati. Chief Ministers of all the north eastern states namely Arunachal Pradesh, Manipur, Nagaland, Manipur, Meghalaya, Assam, Tripura and Sikkim are to participate in the conclave.


The conclave is to focus on SDG localization in the north eastern region. It includes climate adaptive agriculture, sustainable livelihoods, education, health and nutrition, skill development, connectivity, entrepreneurship, infrastructure development. Every session is to chaired by respective field specialist.


NITI Aayog is currently monitoring SDGs at national and sub national levels. It is important to make progress in the North East Regions at higher level as compared to the rest of the nation. This is the mainly because of the economy of these states that is still backward as compared to the rest of the country. Therefore, it is important to implement SDG localization in the North Eastern States to achieve Agenda 2030.
