Union Minister of Sports Kiren Rijiju announced that 3rd edition of Khelo India Youth Games will be held in Guwahati, Assam between 18-30 January 2020. Khelo India programme’s inaugural edition was held in New Delhi in 2018, while Pune hosted 2nd edition in 2019.
2020 Games will be conducted in partnership with Indian Olympic Association (IOA), School Games Federation of India (SGFI) & Assam as host State. The event will see a participation of over 10,000 athletes and officials from all over country and it will be held .
About Khelo India Youth Games (KIYG)
KIYG formerly called Khelo India School Games (KISG) literally means Play India Youth Games are held annually in month of January or February.
These are National level multidisciplinary grassroots games held for two categories-
Under-17 years school students
Under-21 college students
Financial Assistance: Every year best performing 1000 participants are given an annual scholarship of INR 5,00,000 for 8 years to prepare them for international sporting events.
Significance: Khelo India programme was introduced by Union Ministry of Sports to revive sports culture in India at grass-root level. It seeks to build a strong framework for all sports played in country as well as establish India as a great sporting nation.

Narinder Batra, President of Indian Olympic Association (IOA) was elected as a member of International Olympic Committee (IOC) in Lausanne, Switzerland. He secured 58 votes out of 62 polled.
About Narinder Batra
He was elected to prestigious seat during the 134th IOC Session being held in Lausanne, Switzerland.
His election is linked to his function in a National Olympic Committee that is president of Indian Olympic Association (IOA).
Achievement: He now has a rare distinction of becoming a IOC member, while heading a National Olympic Committee as well as an international federation. He is also the 1st Indian to have this distinction. He has already become 1st Indian to head an international federation of an Olympic sport which is that of FIH (International Hockey Federation).
Indian IOC Members:
With Batra now being elected to IOC, the number of Indians who are currently active members of IOC will increase to two.
In 2016 Nita Ambani Chairperson of Reliance Foundation, was elected as an individual member of IOC. She is 1st Indian woman to be elected to prestigious seat.
Randhir Singh, Former IOA Secretary General has also served as a member of IOC from 2001 to 2014 and has been made an honorary member since then.
