CBSE Facebook Partnership for Introduction of Augmented Reality and to launch Curriculum on Digital Safety and Online Well Being
Union Human Resource Development (HRD) Minister Ramesh Pokhriyal has announced on 5th July 2020 that the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) has entered into a partnership with United States-based social media company Facebook, Inc.
About the CBSE Facebook Partnership
The partnership between CBSE and Facebook has two categories. Registration under both the categories have started from 6th July 2020 and will be available for registration until 20th July 2020.
- First, this category will be for the introduction of Augmented Reality in the CBSE curriculum in India. This first category will be of two phases. The programme under this category will be launched on 10th August 2020. In the first phase, a three weeks training will be conducted by Facebook for 10,000 CBSE teachers in India. These teachers further will teach 30,000 students in the second phase. The training will focus on providing the school children Augmented Reality experience for which the fundamentals of Augmented Reality will be covered along with ways for proper utilization of various software of Facebook, Spark Augmented Reality Studio will also be covered in the training.
- Under the second category of the partnership, a new curriculum has been introduced by CBSE. The name of the curriculum is ‘Facebook for Education’. The curriculum is available on the official website of CBSE. In this, aspects related to online well being (such as building Health Digital Habits- Instagram’s Guide) and digital safety (such as privacy, safety, report threats, identify misinformation, etc) will be covered. The programme under this category will be launched on 6th August 2020.

In the presence of P.V Sindhu (Olympic Silver Medalist) and Sunil Chhetri (all-time top goalscorer of Indian National Football team), ‘Fit Hai to Hit Hai India’ program was launched on 3rd July 2020 by Ramesh Pokhriyal (Union Minister of Human Resource Development) and Kiren Rijiju (Union Minister of State I/C for Youth Affairs and Sports).
As a part of the Fit India Campaign, the ‘Fit Hai to Hit Hai India’ program will be organized. The Union HRD Minister stated at the launch event that in various programs under the Fit India Campaign, to date a total of 13,868 CBSE affiliated schools from across the country have participated out of which 11,682 have also been awarded the Fit India flag. He further added that now at the time of a global pandemic it is equally important for the students to stay fit in order to fight the COVID-19 disease.
Fit Hai to Hit Hai India Program
The objective of the program is to inspire and motivate the school children about the importance and need to stay fit during this pandemic. For this, Talk sessions named Fit India Talks will be organized.
A total of six sessions will be organized until 14th July. Leading sports celebrities will participate in these Talk sessions to share their life experiences from failures struggles and to success, also will be sharing fitness tips. In the first session on 3rd July P.V Sindhu and Sunil Chhetri participated.
These Talk Sessions can be streamed live on DD Sports channel on television, Fit India Channel at Facebook and Youtube, at MyGov and at Sports Authority of India (SAI) official Facebook page.
