International Table Tennis Federation suspends events, freezes World Rankings

On March 30, 2020 the International Table Tennis Federation (ITTF) announced that it is suspending all the planned events till June 30, 2020. The decision was taken during the ITTF meeting that was held to discuss the effects of Novel Corona Virus.

The ITTF is suspending all the events that were planned due to the postponement of Tokyo Olympics, 2020 and Paralympic Games. The Committee has also decided to freeze the rankings.

The ITTF is the governing body of all the national table tennis associations spread all over the world. The Headquarters of the Federation is located in Switzerland. It was founded in 1926. There are six continental federations operating under ITTF. They are Table Tennis Federation of India located in India, Asian Table Tennis Union of Asia, European Table Tennis Union of Europe, Latin American Table Tennis Union, Oceania Table Tennis Federation and North American Table Tennis Union.

Hence out of the 5 continental association, India has a separate place in the Federation. This is because India has the highest members in the federation out of the other continents.
