WADA suspends RUSADA, Russian anti-doping agency

World Anti-Doping Agency (WADA) has suspended Russia’s anti-doping agency RUSADA for being non-compliant with the global body’s anti-doping charter in sports.

This decision was unanimously passed by WADA’s foundation board and would possibly bar Russian track sportspersons from participating in 2016 Rio Olympics.

WADA’s decision comes in lines with its report which had uncovered a state-sponsored doping program in Russia.

Since the release of report, RUSADA had been heavily implicated in the state-sponsored doping scandal and was accused of destroying samples requested for analysis by WADA.

Earlier, the International Association of Athletics Federations (IAAF) had suspended Russia from international competition but had left the door open for the 2016 Olympics.
