Renowned Hindi novelist and critique Mudrarakshas passed away due to old age related causes in Lucknow, Uttar Pradesh. He was 82.
He was distinguished Hindi writer, activist, thinker and cultural personality. His write-ups invariably hinged on various vital social issues and causes.
- He was born as Subhash Chandra in Behta near Lucknow in 1931. He was rechristened as Mudrarakshasa by his teacher Dr Devendra when he had started writing.
- He graduated from Lucknow University and later worked as as Assistant Editor of Hindi Journal Gyanodaya, that was published from Calcutta from 1955 to 1958.
- He was the editor of Calcutta based magazine Anuvrata and was also associated with All India Radio (AIR) as Editor from 1962 to 1976.
- He has about 30 stage productions to his credit and his works of theatrical criticism include Rang Bhumikayen and a book on Nemichandra Jain.

Renowned Hindi poet Viren Dangwal passed away in Bareilly, Uttar Pradesh after a prolonged illness. He was 68.
Viren Dangwal was born 1947 in Kirtinagar, Uttaranchal. He was one of the leading Hindi poets.
He had published three collections of poetry namely Isi Dushchakra Mein Srashta, Duniya Mein and Siyahi Taal.
Awards: HIs famous poem collection Dushchakra me Shrista had earned him prestigious Sahitya Academy award in 2004. He was also bestowed with Shrikant Verma Puraskar, Raghuvir Sahay Samman and Shamsher Samman.
